The t-shirt that became more that just a t-shirt.
Tasked to create an iconic t-shirt for Nandocas (Nando's staff) across the world, it felt counter-intuitive to simply have a t-shirt design to celebrate the pride in being a Nandoca. The overall design is inspired by the basic premise of a flag. A flag is a patriotic visual signifier that consists of a distinctive design and colours, with widely varied interpretations. So why a flag for Nandocas? As with any national flag it is used to identify a country, and is usually flown or worn with pride. A flag is not a logo or symbol (although it may carry symbols or become symbolic ), it is a design with unique characteristics and meaning. The Nandoca Forever Flag will be a universal and recognisable design symbolising pride, belonging and unity that can be embraced by all Nandocas, past or present, now and forever. Thus the “flag” design becomes more than just a t-shirt.
The Nandoca flag design took on other iterations such as a pattern design used on merchandisable items such as a dress, graphic posters, tote bags, caps and of course a t-shirt amongst others.
