BIOGRAPHY
Fresh from matriculation at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg. I enrolled at the AAA School of Advertising to pursue a career in Visual Communications. Not two years had passed before disillusionment and the resultant desire to find myself (and loaf about) set in – an activity to which I dedicated myself for another full year. This noble pursuit was eventually brought to an end by my father who directed my energies (or lack thereof!) into an internship at a small Rivonia-based agency. Eight months of free labour ensued, after which I thought it best to actually be paid for my blood, sweat and tears. I managed to successfully pull this off for two years.
My first close brush with industry life proper, took place under the guidance of the illustrious Jenny Ehlers and Mark Stead at King James RSVP Cape Town, where I worked for two years before heading back home to help out at their Johannesburg branch.
Eventually, however, back in Johannesburg, I found a home at Grid Worldwide Brand & Design, acting as a Senior Designer for three years running. Soon, a few very nice and very shiny accolades and awards have seen their plaques engraved with my name in recent years, including a few bronze and silver Loeries, two Grand Prix Loeries and the Antalis Art of Design competition respectively, as well as a silver One Show Design Pencil, which I personally picked up in New York in 2011. I also had the honour of sitting on the Student Judging Panel for the Loeries Awards in 2011. In early 2011 I was promoted to Creative Director at Grid. Currently I find myself in Somerset West as a creative consultant on a variety of brands which include Nando's, Goodbye Malaria and Fluxmans Attorneys amongst others. In addition, I am currently studying towards a Bachelor of Visual Art at the University of South Africa (UNISA).
